BATON ROUGE - District 70 State Representative Franklin Foil welcomed the advancement of legislation he introduced to increase funding to Baton Rouge area colleges and universities with revenue generated by the new Pinnacle gaming riverboat.

On Wednesday May 4th, House Bill 125 was unanimously passed by the House of Representatives' Committee on the Administration of Criminal Justice.

"This legislation will help our area universities cope with future budget cuts without increasing taxes on working families or increasing tuition for students," said Representative Foil.

"Getting the bill out of committee is the first step in the process though I am optimistic my colleagues will recognize the benefits of supporting our area's higher education institutions with a stable source of funding," said Foil.
