Representative Foil successfully passed legislation implementing the ABLE Account Savings Program

09/01/2015

Baton Rouge - House Bill 598 passed unanimously through the House and Senate and was signed by Governor Jindal on July 1, 2015.  This program will allow for persons with disabilities to use his or her ABLE Account Savings toward medical expenses and vocational training, if they do not attend college.  Parents will receive the same tax benefit as a college savings plan.  The ABLE Account Savings aims to ease financial strains faced by individuals with disabilities by making savings accounts available to cover qualified expenses. Act 411 went into effect on July 1, 2015.
