A state Senate panel Wednesday morning killed legislation that would authorize a commission to study the feasibility of holding a state constitutional convention.
Only one member of the Senate and Governmental Affairs Committee voted for House Concurrent Resolution 4 while seven voted against it.
Under the measure, sponsored by state Rep. Franklin Foil, R-Baton Rouge, the commission would conducted studies and analysis to determine if convention should be called.

Representative Foil will ask the Legislature to consider this legislation again next year.
